They were on a train. Because Vlad and Dimitri are ridiculous people, they decided to take a long route passing through Finland despite the risk they were taking just by being inside the train in the first place. Vlad had been doing a lot of sleeping on the train but as soon as he had knowledge that they were in Finland, he made sure not to doze off again so he could antagonize Dimitri. ”Now’s your chance. Look out for the giant mailbox in the middle.” Nope, he never forgot about that. He turned to Anya—a smug grin on his face. ”Dimitri has plans to rule Finland. I wouldn’t suggest moving there.” I mean come on… Dimitri as a ruler was kind of concerning. Not that Vlad had to do much to convince Anya of that. Obviously the guy’s decisions were a little drastic. The two were lucky to be alive after all the running from shit. When it came down to it maybe Dimitri wasn’t a good person to be giving Anya advice on how to be royal but maybe that’s just me.

"So… Anya," Yeah, Dimitri was trying to make conversation again. Because that always went so well for them. You'd think by this point he'd knew better than to try, but they were in a small train compartment and it had been hours and not everyone can be entertained by sleeping or staring out the window. So his choices were either attempt to have a civil conversation with Anya or antagonize Vlad. And trust me, the better option was obvious... DImitri had elbowed Vlad multiple times before turning his attention to the newest addition to their team. Vlad eventually woke up.. which was good because they were in Finland and it was an important moment for them. I mean they were compromising their safety and patience to take a longer route just so they could be obnoxious to each other about about a joke that had started more than ten years ago. If Vlad slept through it he'd never hear the end of it. Then again… now that he was awake he wasn't going to hear the end of it either. "Now's your chance. Look out for the giant mailbox in the middle." "Dammit Vlad you forgot the fancy stationary." He grinned at his friend as he dragged Anya into their ridiculousness. "Dimitri has plans to rule Finland. I wouldn't suggest moving there." "Vlad was going to be co-ruler, actually. It was his idea. But that's fine, I'll just take full ownership if you've changed your mind." Dimitri knew plenty about running and country and being a royal and all that stuff, obviously. No idea what Vlad's talking about. He was a perfectly suitable teacher. Besides, Anya had already gotten the snobby know it all attitude thing down pat, she hardly needed any help from them. The girl was gifted.

“Yes?” Anya drawled out, answering Dimitri. She didn’t even bother pulling her eyes from the window. She knew it would be pointless to look at him. It wasn’t like they were going to have a civil conversation any time soon. He was cocky and overly confident, quite frankly it got annoying after a while. Well it was charming every now and then, when it wasn’t directed at her. She was a little annoyed when he didn’t follow up with any conversation and turned to Vlad. Poor guy, he was happily asleep and Dimitri had to wake him up. Though she still wasn’t understanding why they were on the train in the first place. It was super risky and the ride was going to be long. Like unbelievably long. Painfully long. They were in Finland for crying out loud! That was completely out of their way, but Anya wasn’t going to voice her opinions. After all they were her key to find out what waited for her in Paris. So she was going to keep her mouth shut for now. And then the real reason they were in Finland came to light and Anya nearly killed them there and then. They didn’t have time for that! But she decided to play along. “Please, Vlad, please don’t let him rule Finland all by himself. Don’t subject the people to that cruelty!” Anya mockingly begged Vlad, turning her attention to him. Giving him sad looking eyes. She would sleepy happy knowing the Vlad would be there to help Dimitri. Plus she enjoyed making digs at the cocky child. It was all part of their partnership…is that what this was called? When one person claimed the other was of royal blood without any proof other than the fact that she looked like a painting; and then continued to give her very suckish advice on being royal? No, partnership wasn’t the right word.
