Jane was tromping through the forest, trying to find something to occupy her time. Tarzan was off on some little adventure with Terk and her father was showing Tantor how to sanitize things back in the camp. She contemplated snuggling up somewhere with a good book, but she had read all of them several times over and they just weren’t interesting anymore…or at least, they wouldn’t be for awhile.
So she took to going on her own little adventure around the jungle. It made her a bit uneasy going out into the jungle by herself, as she really didn’t know her way around it too well and if she got into any trouble…well, hopefully she wouldn’t have to worry about that this time. Although, in the back of her mind, she really knew that it was inevitable. Jane wasn’t exactly the most graceful person and she certainly had trouble protecting herself against certainly things in the jungle, like some of the carnivores and some of the gorillas that were still a little unsure about her and her father.
Jane had been walking through the jungle for what felt like at least half an hour and she hadn’t come across much wildlife besides some pesky little bugs and a bird or two scattered throughout her walk. “Oh, how bothersome!” she said, plopping down onto a large root that was jetting out from the ground. Just as she was resting and contemplating heading back to camp, there was a lovely multicolored bird that showed itself to her.
“Oh, how lovely!” she said, pulling her journal and book out from her belt and she looked down to start sketching it, but not long after that, the bird screeched and hastily flew away.
“Now what was all that about?”

The Giant was quite surprised when he found himself in the jungle after flying quite a ways- searching for the familiar coastal town he knew, having repaired himself recently. This scenery didn't look anything like the forests he was used to. There was much more vegetation than the forest surrounding Rockwell, and even more animals- ones he'd never seen before. The birds were even much more colorful, and caught the Giant's attention as they flew past him. He smiled, enjoying the sights and sounds around him as he stood still for a moment. There was so much more to this planet than he'd thought! Maybe he should explore more often. After he found Hogarth, that was.
Wondering what else there was to find here, the Giant began to walk again- making sure that he wasn't stepping on any animals or people, though it was difficult for him to see with all the branches and vines in his way. Still, he was fairly sure that the crunching beneath his feet wasn't caused by any animate object and was instead caused by roots or branches breaking under his immense weight. The rumbling his footsteps caused seemed to upset a number of the jungle's inhabitants, as he soon seen all kinds of birds flying away from wherever they had been perched before- as well as other smaller creatures running to get away from the disturbance. Looking a bit dismayed that he'd caused all the animals to leave (as he enjoyed watching them), the Giant made a noise similar to a depressed sigh- despite the fact that he didn't need to breathe. He was merely copying an action he'd seen Hogarth do.
The shaking of the ground came to a stop and the Giant's footsteps halted. Was he close to Rockwell or not? He really had no way of knowing. There wasn't even any metal for him to eat here, or at least none that he'd seen so far. Through the trees, the Giant did notice one creature that didn't run away from him- at least just yet. Attempting to walk slower and quieter, the Giant was both surprised and relieved to see a human woman sitting on the root of a tree. Unfortunetly, it looked like he had scared away the bird that she'd been looking at. Almost apologetically, the Giant offered a smile and a wave- not knowing if this person would be afraid of him or not.

Jane craned her neck and saw that the beautifully colored bird had taken flight and was flying in the opposite direction of where Jane was facing. “Wha-no! Come back!” she said, standing up and turning around in the direction where the bird had flown off.
She pursed her lips and plopped back down on the large root, resting her head in her hand, disappointed. “Now what am I supposed to do?” she asked to nobody in particular, annoyed that her one little bit of entertainment was now gone.
Jane ignored the rustling branches above her head, assuming it was nothing. She gasped, though, when a small branch landed on her head. “What?” she said, fishing the small stick out of her hair as she looked up. Jane paused in her movement when she felt the ground shaking. She looking around, absolutely terrified at what could possibly be headed her way.
At the sound of the branches separating, Jane froze and slowly turned around to see what it might be and saw a giant…robot? In her fright, she dropped her journal, along with all of her papers, which scattered everywhere. She quickly attempted to gather all of her papers and her journal and prepared to run as fast as she could but-
Jane paused again, as the creature’s movements registered in her mind. Was that…a smile and a wave? She stood up and looked up at the giant…thing. She had never been in this situation before… If it wanted to harm her, it probably already would have done so, instead of smiling and waving at her.
"Hmm...do you...understand English?"

The Giant wasn't really all that surprised when she seemed to be afraid of him, even Hogarth had been startled when they first met. He didn't really understand why people were so afraid of him, but assumed it was because he was so big, or because he wasn't from this planet. Tilting his head a little, he watched as a bunch of paper and a book scattered all around the woman as she dropped them in her stupor. He wondered if she was reading comic books too, as that was really the only type of book he'd seen. His large, bright eyes focused back on her as she seemed to freeze in place again. Did he do something wrong? His eyes slanted in a way that shown he was concerned, until she got to her feet and looked up at him again. At least it didn't look like she was going to run away- or worse, shoot at him.
When she asked him a question, the Giant's expression seemed to lighten up once more. He understood her well enough, but the question itself confused him. What was 'English'? He didn't even know there were different languages, let alone what a language was. Was she asking him if he knew how to speak, like Hogarth had? Deciding that was his best guess, the Giant spoke up after a few moments of silence. "I talk." He replied simply in a voice that seemed just a bit too quiet for someone as large as he was. The Giant sat down on the ground with a rather loud 'thud', which was made even louder by the snapping of trees as he did so. He looked back to the papers and journal she carried with interest, smiling once again. "Story?" He didn't seem to be asking if she would read a story, but if what she was holding was a storybook, as he slowly lifted up his hand to point at the journal. Of course, he just didn't know that all books didn't carry the bedtime stories that Hogarth read to him.

”Oh-oh! You speak!” she said, caught slightly by surprise as the sound level of the giant’s voice. After all, she had expected some sort of booming sound, if the thing could talk at all.
She had never come across anyone or anything like this before, so she wasn’t quite sure how to act around…him? In fact, the closest experience that she had to meeting someone like this could possibly be when she first came across Tarzan. Actually, that was a bit more difficult than this situation was, now that she thought about it. After all, he couldn’t even speak English when they very first met and she had to teach him.
As the giant robot sat down, he shook the earth below him, causing Jane to lose her footing and fall over. “Oof!” she said as she landed on the ground. Laughing, she grabbed a vine to help herself back to her feet. “My goodness!” she said, making sure she was steady on the ground before releasing the vine.
Jane bent down to retrieve the last few papers that had fallen out of her journal. “Oh, this?” she asked, raising the journal up a bit after stuffing the extra papers back into the book. She glanced between the giant and her journal. “No, no. This is my journal. You see I’m a res- well, I enjoy drawing the wildlife,” she said, motioning to the jungle around her.
“Umm…,” she said, looking around, trying to find a way to get higher up to show him her drawings. “Ah...one moment.” She stuffed her journal into the belt of her skirt and began climbing the vines that had been growing on the trunk of one of the nearby trees. “Ohhh, dear,” she said rather scared as she began to climb out on a limb that was right by the giant’s face.
Once she got near enough, she allowed her legs to dangle over the edge as she sat upright. Opening her book, she began flipping through the pages of her book. “You see? I’m afraid none of them are finished because the animals always run away before I can complete them,” she said, giving a small shrug.

The Giant wasn't at all surprised by how she'd taken the fact that he could speak; he didn't think he was supposed to speak, due to how difficult it was. Nevertheless, he smiled proudly and nodded. "Hogarth tell me words." He told her, letting her know how he learned how to speak in the first place.
When the small quake he'd caused by sitting down caused Jane to lose her balance, the Giant gasped and started to reach towards her- hoping he hadn't hurt her at all. However, when she seemed to show amusement (that's what laughing meant, right?), he withdrew his hand and placed it at his side. "...Sorry." He offered, using an expression he'd heard Hogarth and Dean use.
The Giant watched with interest as the woman began to climb the vines on the trees in order to get closer to his eye level, sitting herself on a branch nearby. He was rather impressed, to say the least, as he'd only seen Hogarth climb trees- and they weren't nearly as tall as these ones. Once again, he seemed to grin- clearly pleased that she trusted him enough to get so close. It had taken Dean a while to get that used to him. Looking over at her journal curiously, he was amazed to see all sorts of different animals on the pages- even if they weren't completed. The way she explained the activity of drawing, the Giant eventually caught on that she was responsible for the pictures of animals in the journal- rather than a camera or the pictures already in comic books. He'd never seen anyone draw before, although he'd seen Dean work on his 'art'. "Oh..." He made a noise of wonder and appreciation, looking from Jane and then back to the pages. Upon seeing the bird he'd chased away, a dissapointed look crossed his face. "I scare away." He uttered, although the statement sounded more like an apology.
Looking at his surroundings for a moment before turning back to his new friend, the Giant spoke up once again. "Home?" He hadn't seen a town here, or the little buildings that humans lived in, either. Maybe he'd just missed it- it seemed easy to get lost here.

"Hogarth?" asked Jane, intrigued"Who is Hogarth?" Whoever Hogarth was, he was accomplished enough to teach a robot how to speak. Hmm, interesting. This was certainly a name that she hadn't heard before. Of course, she had thought that Tarzan's name was a bit out of the ordinary as well. Perhaps this giant was from a place either very exotic or maybe even...alien? She shoved the thought out of her mind. There was no use of getting ahead of herself.
Jane laughed, rather embarrassed and waved off the giant’s apology. “Oh, not to worry, not to worry,” she said, waving her hands spastically,”I was bound to happen eventually. I don’t have the best balance, you see.” This was a bit of an understatement. There were countless times that Tarzan had taken her up in the canopy of the jungle and she lost her balance…meaning that he had to save her time and time again. It made her feel like a bit of a burden, but thankfully Tarzan didn’t seem to mind at all.
She smiled kindly at the giant when he seemed to apologize for scaring away the bird that she had previously been drawing. There was something about this giant that was strangely adorable to Jane and despite being so much smaller than him, she was tempted to give him the biggest hug she could muster. “Oh, dear, you mustn’t feel bad about that,” she said, reaching out to the giant’s hand and gently patting it,”Those birds are skittish little things, you know. Anything would have startled it away.”
“Oh, my home? Why, I live,” she said, turning and pointing in the opposite direction that the giant had come from,”in a camp back that way. Um…where might you be from?”

At the question of Hogarth, the Giant's face seemed to visibly brighten, his "teeth" even showing when he smiled this time. "Best friend." He answered quite happily, his voice becoming somewhat louder with his excitement, but not to an unbearable degree. "Hogarth save...find food...tell bedtime stories." He added. Although he seemed to be more eager to speak of his friend, his speech was just as slow as before- as speaking itself was clearly something he wasn't designed for. However, after a moment or two, his smile seemed to slowly dissapear into a somewhat blank look, before his eyes slanted once again- this time, in order to show that he was a bit saddened. "...Look for Hogarth." The Giant finally spoke up once more. This time, however, he seemed to be mumbling or speaking to himself more than anyone else.
When she mentioned 'balance', the Giant couldn't help but think of how Hogarth often toppled over when he was being carried, or when the Giant sat down abruptly. Dean even fell once or twice. Maybe all humans didn't have good 'balance'- whatever that may be. Or was it something about him? That smile seemed to return slowly, along with a small rumble noise which could have been a laugh. "Hogarth fall down 'lot, too." He offered, possibly trying to assure her that she wasn't the only one who wasn't exactly graceful.
When the woman patted his hand, the Giant felt a bit better about having accidentally scared the bird away. He found he was scaring animals away quite often, despite the fact that he tried to approach them as quietly as he could. He slowly lifted his hand up in order to touch her shoulder with his index finger in a type of affectionate gesture. "You...nice." He stated cheerfully. "...Have name?" Giant asked quietly, tilting his head curiously.
As Jane pointed in the direction of the camp she was living in, the Giant glanced that way, as if he would suddenly be able to see the camp now that she had mentioned it. His attention returned to her when she asked where he was from, a query that made him pause for a moment. "Fall from sky." He answered, tilting his head upwards to look at the canopy and the sunlight that filtered through the trees. Without really realizing he was doing so, he touched the side of his head where the dent used to be, as he tried to recall where he was really from. "Bump head...can't remember Home." The robot mumbled. There were some vague, "almost-memories" that he had occasionally, but they only came in the form of dreams. And, unfortunetly, they weren't the most pleasant- often involving strange cities being turned to rubble, accompanied by that horrible red that covered his vision in times of danger... None of them ever seemed to hold anything similar to a "Home", and if they did, he failed to recognize it.

Oh. Oh my goodness. This large robot or whatever he was may seem threatening and frightening at first, but what he sweetheart he was! “Oh, your best friend! Is he, erm…is he like you?” she asked, motioning to the giant’s height. Surely someone would have noticed that there were two of these metal giants wandering around the jungle! Honestly, she was surprised that this particular giant got by without anyone else noticing it…him. “Oh, you want to look for him? Certainly, certainly. What does he look like?” she asked, as she was carefully maneuvering herself to move closer towards the trunk of the tree, preparing to climb down.
“Oh, does he? Oh!” she said, ironically losing her balance as she moved a bit further down the large branch and almost falling off. She gripped the branch tightly after she fell face forward onto it. “I believe it’s very common in humans to have trouble with balance…as you might be able to see,” she said with a laugh, finding the irony in the whole situation.
She smiled as the giant gently touched her shoulder. It was so adorable. “Oh, yes!” she said, strangely being reminded of her first encounter with Tarzan. This meeting was going a bit smoother, though, thankfully. No angry monkeys or thunderstorms this time! Jane cleared her throat and motioned to herself. “I’m Jane. Do you have a name?” she asked, resting her hands in her lap.
Jane raised her eyebrows a bit in surprise when the giant stated that he could not remember where he was from. “Oh, you poor dear! Do you remember how you came upon this island?”
